Bamford Edge, located in Derbyshire, is a striking gritstone escarpment offering breathtaking views of Ladybower Reservoir and the Hope Valley. Popular with hikers and climbers, its dramatic rock formations and panoramic scenery make it a favorite spot.
There's a few compositions from the edge of Bamford Edge overlooking Ladybower Reservoir. The classic is taking from the edge of the rocks with Ladybower and crook hill in the foreground. My favourite is the wall when the heather has bloomed. This photo gave me international recognition and therefore will always have a place in my heart.
This is a sunset location and the best time to visit Bamford Edge is July - September. July is nice to get a fire sky directly above Ladybower reservoir. August is a good time to visit when the heather has bloomed giving some really nice vivd colours with sunset!
There are two locations to park for Bamford Edge. You can park on New road in Bamford. Turn into new road just after the Yorkshire Bridge Inn pub and follow it up for couple of miles. You'll then see the lay bus to park into and follow the access paths which lead on the edge and carry around till you see the iconic view over lady bower. The other location to park is Heatherdene car park off ashopton road. walk up through the woods by the car park and this takes you straight to the Edge.
