Chrome Hill, often called the "Dragon’s Back," is a limestone ridge in Derbyshire. Its distinctive, steep-sided shape resembles a dragon's back. Popular with hikers, it offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and rich geological features.
The main composition at Chrome Hill is shooting the tree looking towards Park house Hill. it's nicknamed 'The Dragons Back' due to the limestone and hills giving the look of a Dragons spine. You can get some really nice pictures from this location all year round.
Chrome Hill is a sunrise location unless you want to get a rainbow in May or October! March - May is a good time to visit this location when the sunrises either side or directly above Park house Hill. This is one of the hardest locations to get a perfect inversion around the base of both hills.
Glutton Bridge / Earl Sterndale are the best places to park to access Chrome Hill. My go to space is the telephone box in Glutton Bridge (SK17 0EN) There're two spaces here. Just be careful as there is a farmers access gate, don't block. You can park at Earl Sterndale and walk down Hitters Hill to Parkhouse / Chrome Hill. You'll see the access posts.
